Currently, if you have a hidden layer and you're trying to edit stitches on a top visible layer, the stitches in the hidden layer are still selectable, despite not being visible. A great enhancement would be that hidden layers are just plain old not selectable until they're visible. It's particularly frustrating when you're trying to select a group of stitches and you end up selecting those of a hidden layer.
While on the same subject, sometimes when I'm making very large and complex items, I need to use a mix of satin and tatami stitches (as well as others, but for example's sake).
A great feature, kind of like you can do with color, is if you select a group of stitches, you can change their type.
Example: Think of an hour glass, the top two bits are large flat areas that can easily be a tatami stitch, but as you approach the middle of the hour glass it narrows and that would work better as a satin stitch. As an individual bit, it wouldn't be too much to just make three different objects for the top, bottom, and middle. However, just it would be easier to just be able to select those stitches in the area you want to be a satin stitch and just hit space to make them a satin stitch.
Something like this could be mitigated with a per object "remove small stitches" for some instances, but for others, it would be easy enough to just select "stitch edit," highlight the region you want to change, and then just change it.
You can do that with color, change a region's color via stitch edit. Something like a select all and then a command to find the edges of the region selected and remove all stitches inbetween the edge stitches.
