Screen Resolution

Less a feature and more of an enhancement. 

Hatch's performance on screens larger than 1920x1080 is abysmal. 
Playback output lags badly and is mostly unbearable. 
Zooming in and out of designs lags badly, especially on larger designs. 
Moving around the screen also lags badly. 
On more complex designs, editing is also laggy and sometimes can take a second or two each time a node is moved. 

None of these are an issue on screens 1920x1080 and below. Only on larger screens. 
I suspect this is due to Hatch only utilizing only a single CPU core and next to nothing for GPU or video memory. 

I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing the performance issue. I run at 4K on all of my computers. The desktop I use for Hatch has 16 core and 64GB of ram. When I zoom out or zoom in on a design with 25,000 stitches, I have to take a drink from my tea and review email on my cellphone before it completes.

Please realize, there are fewer and fewer PC manufacturers that are even shipping 1920x1080 monitors. The vast majority are moving to 4K by default. I realize this is a difficult feature to swallow from a team capacity perspective within R&D, but it's critical for the future viability of Hatch in a competitive landscape.

Despite newer PCs shipping with higher resolution monitors, the vast majority are still locked to 1920x1080 or if lucky, 1440p.
Even high end gaming laptops rarely ship with 4k displays.
I'm on the same side as you, I haven't used anything under 4k in years (laptop aside), but I just needed to make sure the record is straight on that one. We're a minority voice in this world. Hopefully this changes with the next release.

And while we're the odd one's out, we're not the only people using Hatch in 4K and having issues. One of their biggest advocates, John Deer Legacy (not to be confused with the tractors) also uses a 4k screen. Or at least he used to. I think he's since moved on from his Surface Studio due to the poor performance hatch has with high resolutions.

I'm hoping the next release will see Hatch move on to a multicore workload and/ or GPU acceleration.
