exclamation-circle Phantom trims

I have a question that has been driving me crazy for a while. I am unable to prove whether it is caused by Hatch 3 or my embroidery machine. Like most people, I try to minimize trims in my designs. When I finish a design, if I look in Design Information, it tells me there are a certain number of trims. However, when I actually stitch the design, the machine stops and trims threads many more times than Design Information indicates. If I look at the design, and turn off True View, and turn off stitches, I can see the shapes of objects and a triangle for a trim, and a circle for start of stitching. During the actual stitching, the machine stops at many places other than where those symbols indicate a trim. I refer to those trims as Phantom Trims.

I have Closest join turned on, and I also go through my designs to make sure that objects are close enough to join automatically. I also select groups of objects and manually select closest join, just to be certain. My machine is a Babylock Enterprise 10-needle machine. I can't see any setting which might cause this situation, and I have set everything back to the machine defaults, thinking that I might have set something to cause this problem. This behavior seems to be something new since I upgraded to Hatch 3, but I am not certain it is new. Unfortunately, now tat I am using V3, I cannot go back to V2 to see if it behaves differently. There are other places where I see these Phantom Trims, but I will give one situation which illustrates the problem.

I am going to attach a simple EMB file to this note. It is very small, and will stitch out quickly, if you want to try it. It consists of a filled square, followed by a single run outline of that square, followed by a short single run line, followed by a short 3-stroke backstitch, followed by a 5-stroke backstitch, followed by another short single run, followed by a satin stitch line segment, followed by a short triple run, and another single run to finish it off. When I look at the design, with True View turned off, and stitches turned off, it shows a start of stitching of the filled square, indicated by a small circle. Then, at the end, it shows a triangle, indicating a trim. Design Information shows 1 trim. It should stitch from start to end with no trims. When I stitch it out, the machine stops and trims before and after the satin stitch. Those are my Phantom Trims.

I sincerely hope I have done something wrong, and that someone can tell me what it is, but I suspect Hatch V3. I know that Wilcom is busy addressing concerns of users, and I don't want to bother them with a problem that I may have created, so I hope someone can tell me what I have done wrong. I would be interested to hear from anyone else who sews this design out, and tell me whether they see the same result I do.

Me too! It's driving me crazy. I have used Hatch 2 for years and switched to 3 but am having so much trouble with designs randomly trimming. I have reset every setting and can not figure out the problem. I came to the forum to post this when I saw your post! Any one have any ideas? (I have 6 needle Brother machine).
Thanks!

Problem solved. Hatch V3.0.4 fixed it. Evidently, it was a problem with exporting PES machine files. I am so happy they fixed it. I have been pulling my hair out for three weeks, trying to figure out if I had messed up a setting on my machine, or a setting in Hatch.

Oh wow! That is so good to know. Just yesterday, it randomly trimmed a design three times. I was so frustrated! Thanks for posting it is fixed. I will update Hatch now!
