Adding background stitching or fills for quilting in the hoop

Hello -
I am new to embroidery software but I have loved this as it is really easy to learn with all the resources and videos. I am primarily a quilter and I am using this to make "quilt in the hoop" designs. The one thing I have not been able to figure out or find a resource is adding stitching to the background. I found the ambiance quilting in the create layouts but what if I want to add another type of design, like stipple or a different motif. Please help! Thanks

Hello,
If you want stipple then use Ambience quilting as it has several options in the drop down for the stitch type.
For motifs it's a little bit more involved but still quite easy. Here is how I do it:

Open your main design and group.
Now create a filled tatami square the size you want the quilted block
Move it to stitch first. (use a different color than what is used in your design. I've used green in my example so it shows up good.

Now select your main design that is grouped (Mine is the heart).
click Remove Overlaps (found in the edit objects toolbox)
You will see below if I move it off, it has removed the stitches underneath.

Now select the block (green background) and change it to your desired motifs. There are a lot that works good. I especially like using the blackwork fill motifs for quilting.

Hope this helps
